Pigs and chickens were originally domesticated to solve the problem of food waste. Our farms mission is to return pigs and chickens to that role and help solve this problem. A staggering amount of food is wasted in our local economy. This is food that has already taken up valuable resources to produce and transport. We need to work towards a more sustainable and regenerative approach to how we deal with food waste in the upstate. And feeding animals and composting is the solution.
Right now, we are currently feeding 25 pigs and over 200 chickens and we are only collecting part of what one Food Bank throws out every week. In the near future we are hoping to add machinery and storage facilities to our farm that will help us to process more food waste into animal food and compost.
We are committed to give back to the Food Banks a portion of what we produce that will be distributed to people in need.
